The Illusion of Reality

We have all seen them. Posts on social media with images that we suspect are not real. Sometimes, they are photos that have been altered by sophisticated software like Adobe Photoshop. This has become so common, we even created a new verb to describe it – “photoshopped.” Although this can be kind of scary because it seems we can no longer rely on our visual perception of these images, the fact is that we never could. The visual reality we think of as “real” is an illusion born of our mind’s perception.

The reason why the illusion is becoming more obvious and actually manifesting itself as such in our perception, like the above example, is because the nature of reality itself is shifting. We are moving away from a temporal reality to a multi-dimensional heart-based reality. In this new reality, perception is not limited and may ultimately not even be based on, the physical senses we now use to detect, translate and give meaning to our temporal, four dimensional reality.

I think that there are other indications of the intertwining and displacement of the old reality and with the new. A primary example is the internet. It is a physical, or at least partially physical, manifestation of the One Mind, the Universal Mind expressed through humanity individually and collectively. The internet is much more than the physical infrastructure of servers, wires and the software that supports it. The energy, its content, is entirely derived from and is an expression of the human mind. Without the massive conscious expression of human beings, the internet would be empty.

“There is no definition for a lie that serves to make it true. Not can there be a truth that lies conceal effectively.” A Course In Miracles, “A Clarification of Terms”, p. 81.3.

Because we are eternal spiritual beings having a human experience, the physical world we sense is a lie, an illusion. The truth of who we are and the expression of that truth is manifesting in the world. In many ways and in many places, the truth is emerging despite efforts to keep it hidden. The old power structures and institutions that have served to conceal who we really are and obscure the truth can not function in the new reality. Since the currency of our existence is shifting from the material to the energetic, sources of physical power will soon be as useless as swinging an axe to chop water. Although some will find this shift frightening, we need only relax into the Universal Love that is expressing itself and let it flow through us. As eternal spirits having a human experience, there is nothing to fear. We have always been and will always be. The ego dies but we don’t. Only the illusions of ego stand in the way of our true emerging reality. Now is the time when we can finally free ourselves from the perceptual facade of fear we have created and assist in the birth of a new world.
