“A Few Odds & Ends” – A weekly magazine – Issue No. 1

This is the first of what I plan will be a weekly magazine of interesting things that I come across during the week that I feel you may like. In addition to the stories, I will share my thoughts with you, which I hope you also find interesting. Please bear with me as I pull together my thoughts and write them down here for you. Bon voyage!

Now This Guy Definitely Had The Worst Night Of His Life

Yeah, this gentleman really had a rough night. Running late to catch his flight, the drunken gentleman decided to catch up with it with his Jeep while his plane was taxiing down the runway. Well……that is almost what happened.

Vast Corporate Spy Network Revealed

Julian Assange

This is truly one of the most important events in recent history. Perhaps it is THE most important because a combination of multiple factors that magnify the significance of this event. Anonymous retrieved the data and transmitted it to Wikileaks which in turn distributed it to 25 selected media outlets around the world. The data itself is incredibly deep and powerful, spanning the activities of many people and organizations. The interconnection between the spy company, government intelligence agencies and mega-corporations is astounding and frightening. Yes, this revelation is truly monumental.

Innocent Teen Killed By Vigilante

I came across this story on my Face Book news stream. I tell ya, I just love my Face Book friends! They share the most interesting stuff ever. In this case, it was a sad story but is very important. Unlike the usual killed by crazed cops story, the shooter in this case is a white male, 26 year old “neighborhood watch” leader.

Trayvon Martin

I always thought these neighborhood watch groups were pretty benign, at least they seemed that way to me in the places where I lived. But I guess in gated communities in Sanford, Florida, it is pretty dangerous, so they think it is appropriate to arm themselves with a 9mm hand gun. Paranoia strikes deep down there in Sanford.

It is bad enough that this vigilante shot and killed an unarmed teenager but the police have yet to arrest this guy. Yes, you heard me right. Even though the victim was unarmed and legitimately in the neighborhood AND they were called by the killer BEFORE he fired his weapon, the police have done nothing to arrest or even prosecute this man. In fact, when I read the interview with Police Chief Bill Lee in this article, it sounded like was talking about a jaywalker rather than a murderer. Amazing how selective justice can be.
